Dry Creek Bed & Timber Retaining Wall

This project transformed damaged grass and patchy areas into a functional dry creek bed designed to improve drainage, protect the pole barn foundation, and enhance overall curb appeal. The job also included the installation of a timber retaining wall to create additional usable space alongside the driveway.

Before the dry creek bed installation
Before the dry creek bed installation, several areas throughout the yard and alongside the driveway showed signs of poor drainage, resulting in patchy and damaged grass.
Excavation for the dry creek bed
Excavation for the dry creek bed begins by removing the existing grass and creating a carefully planned trench where the drainage system and decorative rock will be installed. A dry creek bed works by directing excess water through the channel and away from problem areas, helping improve drainage while protecting the surrounding property for years to come.

Construction of a timber retaining wall
In addition to the dry creek bed installation, this project also included the construction of a timber retaining wall. As part of the installation process, back bracing was added to help reinforce the wall, improve stability, and provide long-term support.
The timber retaining wall
The timber retaining wall blends naturally into the surrounding landscape while expanding the usable level area above and creating additional functional space below the wall.
