Pole Barn Garage Site Preparation & Timber Retaining Wall

This project showcased several of BedRock’s services from start to finish. We began by excavating and grading the site for a new pole barn garage, followed by drainage installation and electrical line trenching. Once the building was complete, we returned to add stone around the garage and construct a timber retaining wall to help reduce erosion and create more usable space. A great project from start to finish!

This project kicked off
This project kicked off with excavation for a new pole barn garage. After weeks of planning, seeing the site take shape is one of the most exciting parts of the building process!
A stormwater drainage
A stormwater drainage system is taking shape during the early stages of the project. This system is designed to direct water away from the new garage, helping protect the site and manage runoff once construction is complete.
The grading for the level site
The grading for the level site is nearly complete. Properly grading and compacting the new fill is an essential step in preparing a stable, level base for the foundation.
Once the new garage
Once the new garage was constructed, we returned and added additional stone around and inside the building, along with a new stone driveway leading to the garage.
Additional stone
Additional stone was installed inside the new garage to create a level, stable, and durable surface. This finished stone base provides a reliable foundation for parking vehicles, storing equipment, and making the most of the space inside the new building.
On this project
On this project, we excavated a dedicated trench to run the electrical line between the existing house and the new garage, helping create a clean and efficient connection between the two buildings.
Alongside the new garage
Alongside the new garage, the customer chose to add a timber retaining wall to help control erosion along the hillside beside the garage. The wall helps stabilize the slope, creates additional usable space around the building, and complements the property with a natural, functional finish.
The timber retaining wall
The timber retaining wall is taking shape! As part of the construction process, back bracing is installed to provide additional support and stability, helping minimize shifting over time. The bracing anchors the wall securely into the hillside, strengthening the structure as it holds back the surrounding soil. Once the bracing is complete, additional stone is placed behind the wall to fill the voids and provide added support and drainage.
The completed retaining wall
The completed retaining wall is both a practical and eye-catching addition to the property. By creating a more level area above the wall, the project provides additional usable space around the garage while helping reduce erosion and improve the overall stability of the hillside. The finished wall adds function and a natural, finished look to the property.
