This project focused on replacing two aging stone retaining walls that had begun to erode and lose stability. Through careful excavation, added fill, and the installation of new drainage pipes, we rebuilt both structures to provide lasting support while improving the property’s layout, usable space, and overall appearance.
The existing retaining wall along the back of the driveway had deteriorated over time and needed to be replaced with a new, more reliable structure. The second retaining wall along the side of the driveway had also experienced significant wear over time. The sloped ground above the wall was beginning to erode toward the existing structure, making replacement necessary. This rendering was created to give the customer a preview of the proposed retaining wall before construction, allowing them to visualize the finished design and request any desired changes.Trenching begins for the new retaining wall along the back of the driveway, including preparation for the concrete steps that will be incorporated into the center of the wall. Concrete is also poured to create the footing at the base of the wall, providing a stable, level foundation that supports the structure and helps distribute its weight against the pressure of the surrounding soil. The concrete block retaining wall is now taking shape. Additional reinforcement and structural preparation help ensure the wall is built to withstand the pressure of the surrounding soil and provide lasting stability. Before additional stone is placed, drainage pipes are installed behind the wall to help direct water away from the wall and nearby structures. This drainage system helps prevent long-term erosion, reduces water buildup, and promotes proper drainage throughout the surrounding yard. The new retaining wall along the back of the driveway is nearly complete! Final steps include finishing the driveway and completing the area behind the wall to bring the entire project together.Once the drainage system is in place, soil is added behind the wall to complete the grading and prepare the area for a finished yard. The result is a retaining wall that not only provides lasting function and support but also creates a clean, attractive addition to the property. The retaining wall along the driveway is now complete! This addition transformed the side of the yard, creating more usable space while incorporating proper drainage and a durable wall built to last for years to come.
